just recently, probably because i’ve been hand drawing and painting the letters in my a to z project, i’ve wanted to do some painting. a few days ago i wasn’t really thinking about doing anything, but came across a circular canvas when tidying. i’ve wanted to use it for ages, but never really knew what to do on it so it kind of just sat around.
when i saw it, for some reason i was just struck with inspiration and knew exactly what i wanted to do with it. i had this image of two love birds with some leaves and red flowers. i changed the colours a bit from what love birds actually look like. so i picked it up, started drawing, today did the painting and ..voila! done. i still feel like there’s something missing though.
i have to say, i’m quite surprised that i am still able to draw somewhat decently considering i haven’t really done so properly in quite some time. the pansy looks elongated but other than that i’m quite pleased. i have always loved drawing and painting and i must make more of an effort to combine that (as well as various forms of printing) with my collages. i used to do it a lot and for some reason don’t do so as much. that will change. hopefully.
..it will though. anyway, here’s the painting, in steps as i was completing it.

and here’s a closer shot so you can see a bit more of the detail:
